Silent Prayer of Preparation: There was a care on my mind to so pass my time as to things outward that nothing might hinder me from the most steady attention to the voice of the True Shepherd. J. Woolman

Welcome Keep those who are praying at home alone in your love and prayers.

Introit: Like the murmur of the dove’s song, like the challenge of her flight, like the vigor of the wind’s rush, like the new flame’s eager might: Come, Holy Spirit, come. bl314 Call to Worship: God you are all around us and we experience that as your Holy Spirit. We come together to affirm the role your Spirit has in us and between us. Come Holy Spirit, Come! Let us worship God!

Hymn All-knowing Spirit, prove the poverty of pride, by knowledge of the Father’s love in Jesus crucified. And grant us faith to know the glory of that sign, and in our very lives to show the marks of love divine. Come with the gift to heal the wounds of guilt and fear, and to oppression’s face reveal the kingdom drawing near. Where chaos longs to reign, descend, O holy Dove, and free us all to work again the miracles of love. P594

Prayer of Confession: (Unison) Your Holy Spirit is around us, O God. Praise you for what you do through it and forgive us for getting in the Spirit’s way and your will. (please pray silently). Lord, speak to us, help us to hear. Restore to us the joy of your salvation, in Christ we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon The Spirit of Christ reminds us of the life we have in his name! In Christ we are forgiven and set free, all of us!

Response: Ref. Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah! Everybody praise the Lord. (repeat) Praise God with the sound of the trumpet, Praise God with the lute and the harp; Praise God with timbrel and dancing, Praise God wherever you are. Prayer for peace: O God, source of all peace, refresh our spirits with your gracious, life giving peace. Let that peace which goes beyond our understanding be contagious to others, In Christ we pray. Amen. Prayer for Illumination: Your word is Spirit and Life, O Lord, richer than gold, stronger than death, your word is Spirit and Life, O Lord, Life everlasting. Old Testament Lesson Mark 6: 48-56

Children’s Time “How did you make a difference in someone’s life this week?” Ecclesiastes 6 New Testament Lesson Acts 8 These are the Words of the Lord: Thanks be to God Sermon “Buying In?” Rev. Stuart C. Buisch

Creed We are a community of Christians drawn from many traditions, who: Agree to pray for each other, to join in the worship of the community to care for and support each other, to live out our commitment in our daily lives, to give, according to our ability, the funds of the community. Correymeela

Hymn Spirit of truth, arise; inspire the prophet’s voice: expose to scorn the tyrant’s lies, and bid the poor rejoice. O Spirit, clear our sight, all prejudice remove, and help us to discern the right, and covet only love. Give us the tongues to speak the word of love and grace to rich and poor, to strong and weak, in every time and place. Enable us to hear the words that others bring, interpreting with open ear the special song they sing. Joys and Concerns/Prayers of the People/Lord’s Prayer Thanks for keeping the congregation in your prayers, sending cards and calling on the phone those of our members and friends.

Hymn Come, Holy Spirit, come! Inflame our souls with love, transforming every heart and home with wisdom from above. Let none of us despise the humble path Christ trod, but choose, to shame the worldly wise, the foolishness of God. Come, Holy Spirit, dance within our hearts today, our earthbound spirits to entrance, our mortal fears allay. And teach us to desire, all other things above, that self-consuming holy fire, the perfect gift of love. Charge Each of us is used differently by God. God’s Holy Spirit does individual work through us. Let us be open to anything that God would do through us this week.

Benediction May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the community of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore. Amen. Benediction Response Holy Spirit, gift bestower, breathe into our hearts today. Flowing water, dove that hovers, Holy Spirit guide our way. Love inspirer, joy releaser, Spirit, take our fears away. Reconciler, peace restorer, move among us while we pray. P590
