Silent Prayer of Preparation: Jesus priceless treasure, Source of purest pleasure, Truest friend to me: Long my heart hath panted, ‘Til it well-nigh fainted, Thirsting after Thee. Thine I am, O spotless Lamb, I will suffer nought to hide Thee, Ask for naught beside Thee.
Prelude “Lonesome Valley” Wilson
Introit: Into my heart, into my heart, Come into my heart, Lord Jesus; Come in today, Come in to stay, Come into my heart, Lord Jesus. 2160
Call to Worship:
The Lord of Angel Armies is with us, Thanks be to God!
Coming together for worship enables us to see things more clearly.
Who is this Savior who gave his life for us, who walks with us by his Spirit?
It is good to be with God, it is good to be together, it is good to be loved.
Hymn Out of my bondage, sorrow and night, Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come; Into Thy freedom, gladness and light, Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of my sickness into Thy health, Out of my need and into Thy wealth, Out of my sin and into Thyself, Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of unrest and arrogant pride, Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come; Into Thy blessed will to abide, Jesus, I come to Thee. Out of myself to dwell in Thy love, Out of despair to raptures above, Upward I rise on wings like a dove, Jesus, I come to Thee. R401 vs 1,3
Prayer of Confession: (Unison) God of grace, we come before you having thought about our lives and seeking new beginnings and new will to serve you, obey you and bring glory to your name. (Please pray silently) Gracious God, forgive us all our sins, conscious and unconscious. Create in us clean hearts and ready spirits to follow you, in Christ we pray. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
In Jesus Christ you are forgiven and set free to live for Him!
In Christ we are forgiven and set free to love and to serve God always!
Response: Your only Son, no sin to hide; but you have sent him from your side, to walk upon this guilty sod, and to become the Lamb of God. O lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God, I love the holy Lamb of God! O wash me in his precious blood my Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. 2113 vs1
Prayer for peace: Give peace to every heart (2) Give Peace, Lord (2) 2156
Prayer for Illumination Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (2)
Old Testament Lessons: Lamentations 5
Hymn O Jesus, I have promised To serve Thee to the end; Be Thou forever near me, My Master and my Friend; I shall not fear the battle If Thou art by my side, Nor wander from the pathway If Thou wilt be my Guide. O let me feel Thee near me, The world is ever near, I see the sights that dazzle, The tempting sounds I hear; My foes are ever near me, Around me and within; But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer, And shield my soul from sin. R402 vs 1,2
Old Testament Lessons: Genesis 33:8-11; 50:19-21
These are the Words of the Lord: Thanks be to God
Sermon “Reign & Restore” Rev. Stuart C. Buisch
Creed In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, who alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ fully human, fully God; preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel.
A Brief Statement of Faith
Hymn Just as I am; without one plea, But that Thy blood was shed for me, And that Thou biddest me come to Thee O Lamb of God, I come, I come! Just as I am, and waiting not To rid my soul of one dark blot; To Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come! R417 vs 1,2
Joys and Concerns/Prayers of the People/Lord’s Prayer (pray for our church family)
Hymn Is your burden heavy as you bear it all alone? Does the road you travel harbor danger yet unknown? Are you growing weary in the struggle of it all? Jesus will help you when on His name you call.
Ref: He is always there, hearing every prayer, faithful and true; Walking by our side, in His love we hide all the day through. When you get discouraged just remember what to do Reach out to Jesus, He’s reaching out to you.
Is the life your living filled with sorrow and despair? Does the future press you with its worry and its care? Are you tired and friendless, have you almost lost your way? Jesus will help you just come to Him today. ref R430 vs 1,2
Charge Every day of our lives God is calling, God is seeking us out, God is looking for us to love us. Let’s stop playing hide and seek with God and be found.
Benediction May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the community of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore. Amen.
Song: Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary Pure and holy, tried and true. With thanksgiving, I'll be a living Sanctuary for You 2164
