Sunday Worship

Silent Prayer of Preparation: Holy Spirit come to us, kindle in us the fire of your love. -Taize

Welcome Remember while we are in different places, God is always with us, Emmanuel.

Introit:   Every time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart, I will pray. Yes every time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart, I will pray.

Call to Worship:                    The day of Pentecost has come. Easter came and is past. But we are still stuck.  The Spirit’s arrival changed everything, gave birth to the thing we call church.  Come Holy Spirit, Come! Let us worship God!

Hymn   Spirit of God, bright wind, breath that bids life begin, blow as you always do; create us anew.  Give us the breath to sing, lifted on soaring wing, held in your hands, borne on your wings. Alleluia! Come Spirit, Come!

Prayer of Confession: (Unison) It seems more often than once a year when we need a full refreshing, Lord. Forgive us when we try to serve you without the work of your Spirit within.  Forgive all the undone things that you call us to that are possible with your Spirit’s help. (please pray silently).   Lord, speak to us, help us to hear. Restore to us the joy of your salvation, in Christ we pray.  Amen.

Assurance of Pardon  Christ offers us life in his name!  Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, in Christ we are forgiven and set free, all of us!   Response: Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is peace; where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is love. There is comfort in life’s darkest hour; there is light and life, there is help and power in the Spirit, in the Spirit of the Lord.              Prayer for peace God, speak your peace and patience quietly into our hearts and souls, there are those in great need, breathe your Spirit of peace in us, In Christ we pray.  Amen.   Prayer for Illumination:   Your word is Spirit and Life, O Lord, richer than gold, stronger than death, your word is Spirit and Life, O Lord, Life everlasting.

Sermon                 “Sudden Windstorm”                                     Rev. Stuart C. Buisch

Creed                                                           Confession of Belhar We believe in one holy, universal Christian church, the communion of saints called from the entire human family. That this unity must become visible so that the world may believe that separation, enmity and hatred between people and groups is sin which Christ has already conquered, and accordingly that anything which threatens this unity may have no place in the church and must be resisted

Hymn   Joys are flowing like a river since the comforter has come; He abides with us forever, makes the trusting heart His home.  Blessed quietness, holy quietness, what assurance in my soul! On the stormy sea he speaks peace to me, how the billows cease to roll!

Joys and Concerns/Prayers of the People/Lord’s Prayer

Please keep the congregation in your prayers. Thanks for sending cards and calling  on the phone those of our members and friends.

Hymn As the wind song through the trees, as the stirring of the breeze, so it is with the Spirit of God, as the heart made strangely warm, as the voice within the storm, so it is with the Spirit of God.  Never seen, ever known where this wind has blown bringing life, bringing power to the world, as the dancing tongues of fire, as the soul’s most deep desire, so it is with the Spirit of God.

Charge    The work of the Church has never finished but workers in that same church have come, gone and dried up. Be filled afresh today with God’s Spirit for the task God has for you.

Benediction May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the community of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore.  Amen.

Benediction Response              Because He lives I can face tomorrow, because he lives all fear is gone, because I know God holds the future and life is worth the living just because he lives.

Thank you to those who are giving tithes, offerings and gifts.
