Saturday Worship

Silent Prayer of Preparation: This, this is where children belong, welcomed as part of the worshiping throng. Water, God’s word, bread and cup, prayer and song: this is where children belong. Welcome Introit: Holy Spirit, Christ proclaimer, wisdom bringer, light our way. Fire that dances, wind that whispers, Holy Spirit, come today. Ease disturber, comfort bearer, move among us while we pray. Truth revealer, faith confirmer, rest within our hearts today.

Call to Worship: It is good to be together in the presence of God! It is amazing to have life in Jesus Christ, to weep with those who weep and laugh with those who laugh Come Holy Spirit, Come! Let us worship God!

Hymn As a fire is meant for burning with a bright and warming flame, so the church is meant for mission, giving glory to God’s name. Not to preach our creeds or customs, but to build a bridge of care, we join hands across the nations, finding neighbors everywhere. We are learners; we are teachers; we are pilgrims on the way. We are seekers; we are givers; we are vessels made of clay. By our gentle, loving actions we would show that Christ is light. In a humble, listening spirit we would live to God’s delight

Prayer of Confession: (Unison) As we gather in your name, O God, let us hear your voice anew and follow in your ways. Forgive us when we have no interest in finding your ways in the new days of this pandemic and in the other issues in our lives. (please pray silently). Lord, speak to us, help us to hear. Restore to us the joy of your salvation, in Christ we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon In Christ we are forgiven, alleluia! In Christ we are forgiven and set free, all of us! Response: Come away with me to a quiet place, a part from the world with its frantic pace, to pray, reflect, and seek God’s grace. Come away with me. Come away.

Prayer for peace: O God, source of all peace, refresh our spirits with your gracious, life giving peace. Let that peace which goes beyond our understanding be contagious to others, In Christ we pray. Amen.

Prayer for Illumination: Holy Spirit come to us, kindle in us the fire of your love, Holy Spirit come to us

Sermon “Salvation, Anyone?” Rev. Stuart C. Buisch

Creed We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God: …healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel… God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal. A Brief Statement of Faith

Hymn Here in this place new light is streaming, now is the darkness vanished away, See in this space our fears and our dreamings, brought here to you in the light of this day. Gather us in the lost and forsaken, gather us in the blind and the lame; call to us now, and we shall awaken, we shall arise at the sound of our name. Not in the dark of buildings confining, not in some heaven, light years away, but here in this place the new light is shining, now is the Kingdom, now is the day. Gather us in and hold us forever, gather us in and make us your own; gather us in all peoples together fire of love in our flesh and our bone.

Joys and Concerns/Prayers of the People/Lord’s Prayer

Hymn Lead on, O Cloud of Presence, the exodus is come, in wilderness and desert out tribes shall make its home. Our slavery left behind us, new hopes within us grow we seek the land of promise where milk and honey flow. Lead on, O God of freedom, and guide us on our way, and help us trust the promise through struggle and delay. We pray our sons and daughters may journey to that land where justice dwells with mercy, and love is law’s demand.

Charge Is it fair to say all this independence furthers the personal need to sort out God’s salvation for each one for one’s self? I charge you this week to answer the immediate questions of salvation for yourself with answers that you and God can live with. Really live with!

Benediction May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the community of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore. Amen.

Benediction Response Holy Spirit, gift bestower, breathe into our hearts today. Flowing water, dove that hovers, Holy Spirit guide our way. Love inspirer, joy releaser, Spirit, take our fears away. Reconciler, peace restorer, move among us while we pray. P590
