Jeremiah 1: 4-10

What a calling.

God knows us before our parents know each other. God has plans for us before we are born. Agggh!

Some may feel that way. Determinism - no choices. But that isn't necessarily the only way to read this.

We read this from the abundance of our human experience. We think, perhaps too often,

that since we are made in the image of God, God's image 'looks' like us.

We think that we know what a God like the one we worship is really like.

Do we?

Could it be that God is really saying more is known about each of us than we

can ever imagine. That someone greater than us is able to see a dimension

that is invisible to us. When God tells us that there is a plan, we assume, perhaps, that since

we didn't devise it therefore it must not be good.

we develop excuses: age, intellect, skills, gender, etc

But God says that none of our distinctions are limits.

we have no reason to be afraid.

We have the equipping that we will need.

It won't be easy but it will be shared. God will touch us and empower us.

Wow.
