Palm Sunday 9:45 & 11:00am
Silent Prayer of Preparation: Ride on! Ride on in majesty! Hark everyone!
Prelude “Palm Sunday” Hughes
Introit: The Palms Insert
Call to Worship:
The Lord of Angel Armies came riding on the colt of a donkey!
We come together to remember the story and to relive the excitement.
Who is this Savior who gave his life for us, who walks with us by his Spirit?
It is good to be with God, it is good to be together, it is good to be loved.
Hymn Make Way (2) For Christ the King in splendor arrives; fling wide the gates and welcome him into your lives. Make Way (2) for the king of kings: Make Way (2)and let his kingdom in! mp 457
Prayer of Confession: (Unison) Gracious God, by your Spirit open our eyes and our hearts to the things we need to tell you. (Please pray silently) Gracious God, forgive us all our sins, conscious and unconscious. Create in us clean hearts and ready spirits to follow you, in Christ we pray. Amen.
Response: All glory, laud, and honor To Thee Redeemer, King! To whom the lips of Children Made sweet hosannas ring. Thou art the King of Israel, Thou David’s royal Son, Who in the Lord’s name comest, The King and blessed One.
Assurance of Pardon
In Jesus Christ you are forgiven and set free to live for Him!
In Christ we are forgiven and set free to love and to serve God always!
Prayer for peace: Give peace to every heart (2) Give Peace, Lord (2) 2156
Illuminating Prayer Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path
Scripture Lessons: Psalm 21; Matthew 21:1-11
These are the Words of the Lord: Thanks be to God
Hymn We sang our glad hosannas and waved our branches high, but some were silent, frowning, as Jesus rode on by, They sought a royal Savior, but did not understand a king could rule by loving instead of by command. We heard an angry Jesus in Temple courts declare, “Be gone, you money changers! This is a house of prayer.” Though many came for healing and stayed to hear his word, still others, hostile, plotted and thus his death assured. 2111 vs1,2
Sermon “Who Is This?” Rev. Stuart C. Buisch
Creed In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune
God, the Holy One of Israel, who alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ
fully human, fully God; preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives,
teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the
brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe
A Brief Statement of Faith
Hymn As in that entrance to Jerusalem, hosannas we will sing to Jesus Christ, to our
Redeemer who still calls today, asks us to follow with our love and faith. From every corner a
thousand voices sing praise to the One who comes in the name of God. Our acclamation breaks
forth in shout of praise, our triumphant song of joy; “Hosanna, hosanna to Christ ! Hosanna,
hosanna to Christ.” P199 vs1,2
Joys and Concerns/Prayers of the People/Lord’s Prayer
Hymn Hosanna, loud hosanna, The little Children sang; Through pillared court and temple
The lovely anthem rang To Jesus, who had blessed them Close folded to his breast, The
children sang their praises, The simplest and the best. Hosanna in the highest!” That ancient
song we sing, For Christ is our Redeemer, The Lord of heaven our King. O may we ever
praise Him With heart and life and voice, And in His holy presence Eternally rejoice! R248
Charge Your choice: stay in your yard, join the parade, or tell someone else!
Song: Here might I stay and sing, no story so divine: never was love, dear King, never was
grief like thine. This is my Friend, in whose sweet praise I all my days could gladly spend.
